Discussion: New Concerns About Our Neighborhood

"Am I the only person who feels the new “No commercial vehicles” signs are less noticeable? I am not seeing any signs of reduced truck traffic. It appears the signs with the red circle through a truck were removed for this new sign, but only on 13th street. I feel it would’ve been more effective to keep the old sign and add the “no commercial vehicles” to the bottom. Perhaps a sign on Motter Ave as well as on East St notifying drivers no commercial drivers are allowed would help? The speed bumps on 13th Street are so flat and eroded from years of heavy traffic that many drivers no longer slow down. They need to be improved and freshly painted. The police presence I’ve seen has been at odd times of the day when it seems as though it might be more effective early morning and/or later afternoon to catch the most violators. As far as the traffic circle, I feel as though a traffic signal would be a better option. A signal seems as though it would be less disruptive than construction of a circle. A traffic signal could also hold a “no commercial vehicles” sign which might be more visible to truck drivers prior to making the turn onto 13th Street. "
