In Response to Flier Sent 6/8/2023

"Good Morning, I got your note and was pleased to see it. I live on W 12th Street and have been here for well over 30 years.

I appreciate your efforts but after 30 years fussing with city and county officials I don't see much hope. All my contacts on various issues over the years have been ignored. I personally believe that there is not a developer around that the city and country reps do no support - regardless of their political leanings. So, I am perhaps a little jaded. I saw in the paper that the traffic circle is in the 2024 budget which tells me it is a done deal.

The city and county reps do not listen and they do not respond to calls or emails. And then there is our mayor who authorized $78,000 to install a bike lane for one silly block on Market street leading to 7th street - I am told all in response for the biking clubs support for him running for mayor.

But I digress. If you have the addresses for the reps I am happy to send them letters, a phone call would be ignored. I think a different approach is needed here if the city is going to insist on doing something at that intersection. What about traffic. cameras (just thinking out loud here). The problem is people are in a hurry they do not come to a stop and then shoot into the intersection to either get across the street or turn onto Motter. With a camera cars running the stop sign would be photographed and tickets sent to the driver - could be a money maker for the city and would certainly limit the accidents occurring there - just a thought."
