In Response to Flier Sent 6/8/2023:

1). I’m concerned about the impact of trucks on residential streets. The original signage was put in place over 30 years ago as trucks were traversing 12th, 13th, Frederick Ave, and 14th streets causing cracks to home foundations and plaster walls. The homes on 12th Street are documented in the National Historic Register as many are Sears homes and the other homes have architectural significance.

2). The streets between Motter and North Market are walked daily by students traversing to North Frederick Elementary, Heather Ridge School, TJ Middle School, TJ High School, the YMCA daycare and camps and Beth Shalom as well as Staley Park. Truck traffic is a danger to pedestrians.

3). North Frederick Elementary is a Title 1 school, has a large population of at risk students…these students aren’t driven to school and must traverse these streets, often unsupervised by adults, they deserve to be safe.

4) With the opening of the Amazon Outlet, our neighborhood is under the threat of becoming the truck access to Rt 15 N and Rt 15 S. Especially with the pending rezoning of the East Street Corridor

5). Additionally, build out of the Odd Fellows Property, the Coke Bottling property, and the next property across from the Odd Fellows Property, residential Cut-thru traffic has drastically increased.

We, the residents of the north end deserve to have our neighborhood protected and the “traffic oval” will only cause further back ups as both north and south bound traffic on Motter will be the prevailing rights of way creating even worse back up and more collisions as commuters try to “push in” to access 15. Also with the high school just a short distance up Motter you will see a platform of lesser experienced drivers attempting to navigate the oval which seasoned drivers seem to have difficulty maneuvering.
