In Response to Flier Sent 6/8/2023

“I actually went to the recent NAC meeting where they presented this plan. There were only a handful of us present. In addition to a few of us and the presenters, there were only 2 other people present, and while they are in this NAC, they do not live on any of these local streets. Basically it was shared that this action is being taken due to one person who took pics of the car accidents (I have been told that she has since moved) and registered complaints. We were told at the meeting that these complaints were the drive behind this action. I agree this is a troublesome intersection, as is the intersection at 13th & Market, but several of us opposed the round-about, which is really an oblong-about. We disagreed with presented information and also expressed concern about the truck traffic, as well as the tremendous amount of new traffic that will occur due to the large number of housing being built on N. Market extended. (BTW, I told the presenters that they deserved an “F” for public announcement of this plan. They listed it as traffic concern on the agenda but did not mention a round-about.). My neighbor would be a great person to talk to. She is feeling very discouraged because she does a lot for the neighborhood that people don’t know about and don’t attend the NAC (I too am guilty for lack of attendance.)

With all of the new building happening, I did share at the meeting that this is a band-aid for bigger problems and they need to look at the entire neighborhood, not just one intersection."
