Truck Traffic Feedback

"There is undeniably too much truck traffic on our residential street. Too much traffic in general, honestly, but the truck traffic is definitely the worst. It's a quality of life issue (it sounds like a building falling down every time one of these rattling tractor trailers goes flying over our tiny speed bumps, dozens of times a day), but it's also a safety issue (they're using our neighborhood to get from Point A to Point B as quickly as possible, and to avoid the speed camera on Motter).
I think the traffic oval will decrease the number of accidents at that intersection, and I think it will help improve the flow of traffic, reducing the long back up of cars we see on our street every day at the end of school, and then again around rush hour. However, I believe that this improvement in safety and traffic flow will inevitably lead to an increase in traffic on our street - truck and otherwise - barring the addition of some major deterrent. Our street is a major cross street, and as such is a very valuable target to anyone who is trying to travel a West-East route in our area, and only more so as it allows them to avoid the speed camera.
I think our neighborhood needs to be made a pain in the ass to navigate, so that no one wants to drive down our streets but us. There are neighborhoods in this town that I avoid driving through, specifically because their speed bumps and/or traffic islands make it such a slow, laborious task to navigate through them, that it's simply easier to go around. I want ours to be one of those neighborhoods that everyone avoids.
I think we should have more and better speed bumps. Higher speed bumps that force you to slow almost to a stop in order to go over them safely; no one should be able to even go the speed limit down our street without breaking an axle. And they should be brightly colored so you can't miss them (our current speed bumps are so flat and camoflagued, that I know where they are and yet I still miss one every once in awhile). And I think this needs to be done before or along with any improvements to the intersection that would increase traffic."
